Expert Tips

  • Remove the cream cheese from fridge at least 2 hours before making the dip to soften up.
  • For a classic buffalo sauce flavor, you’ll want to grab your favorite classic cayenne pepper sauce like Franks RedHot.
  • To make this recipe even easier, use a rotisserie chicken or leftover cooked chicken instead of cooking and shredding chicken breasts.
  • You can adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less buffalo sauce to the dip.
  • For a milder flavor, remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeño before slicing and adding to the dip.

Variations

  • Ranch Buffalo Chicken Dip:Add 1-2 tablespoons of ranch seasoning mix to the dip for a tangy and flavorful twist.
  • Blue Cheese Buffalo Chicken Dip:Replace the cheddar cheese with crumbled blue cheese for a bold and distinctive flavor.

  • Bacon Buffalo Dip:Crumble a few slices of cooked bacon and add it to the dip for a smoky and savory twist.
  • BBQ Buffalo Dip:Add a few tablespoons of your favorite BBQ sauce to the dip for a sweet and tangy flavor. Top with sliced green onions and chopped cilantro for extra color and freshness.

Recipe FAQ's

Can I make smoked buffalo chicken dip ahead of time?

Yes! You can mix it together up to 2 days in advance and keep it in the fridge. I recommend smoking it fresh when you want to serve it.

What do I serve with buffalo dip?

Corn chips, pretzel crisps, crackers, tortilla chips, carrots and celery sticks are some of my favorites.

Can I serve this dip cold?

I don't think this dip tastes as good cold. You will want the cheesy to be melted and gooey.

Can I make this dip without cream cheese?

If you prefer, you can make this dip with half cup each of sour cream and mayo. However, the dip won't be as thick and creamy.

How can I make this dip spicier?

If you want your dip to be even spicier, add some cayenne pepper to the mix.

What should I make with leftover buffalo chicken dip?

Buffalo chicken quesadillas, over a baked potato, served over fries, or spread on a flatbread and baked are some favorites!
