World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Crafting Orders Complete Guide (2024)

With the introduction of Dragonflight, the Auction House toppled as the place to shop for crafted goods in World of Warcraft. Even with the relatively recent wave of changes that came to the Auction House, players have been searching for an alternative to the system for the exact item they need at a reasonable price.

Enter Crafting Orders. This revolutionary change brought about a different type of economy. Instead of messing around with bidding, surplus goods, and needless competition in the form of undercutting and price gouging, this offers a direct line between consumers and crafters. Here's everything you need to know about the overhaul.

Crafting Orders Overview

As you explore the Dragon Isles, you may come across a faction known as the Artisan's Consortium. While this partly serves as another reputation to grind, it also provides players with Crafting Orders. You can find the Consortium centered in Valdrakken, the main hub city on the Dragon Isles.

While the Auction House provides a place for already-crafted gear to be posted and sold to the highest bidder, you can place a Crafting Order for a specific item and wait for a crafter to fulfill it.

Once it's done, you can find your brand-new item in your Mailbox.

Three different types of Crafting Orders can be posted:

  • Public Orders
  • Guild Orders
  • Personal Orders

As the name implies, Public Orders allow you to open your order to the community, where anyone in your realm can see and fulfill the request.

The second, Guild Orders, functions much the same way as the Public ones.

However, instead of opening your request to everyone, the visibility is limited to only people in your guild. While it narrows the pool, there's an inherent sense of trust that your fellow guildmates will help.

Personal Orders are the final type, allowing you to restrict your request visibility to only one person. This could be a friend or an extremely trusted crafter that's advertised their business in Trade Chat.

Just like with Guild Orders, Personal Orders are for players that have formed a deep bond of trust with a business partner.

How To Place An Order

If you want someone to craft an item for you, head to the upper levels ofThe Artisan's Market in Valdrakken and seek out the Crafting Order NPCs. These are the equivalent of Auctioneers; through them, you can interact with the Crafting Order system.

Upon opening the UI, you'll notice that it looks rather similar to the Auction House. On the left side of the screen, you can select the type of gear you're looking for, and hitting the Search button will bring upa list of recipes from different professions.

Once you've selected the item that you want to be crafted, you can set the order's visibility, duration, minimum quality desired, and a personalized note. And, unlike the Auction House, you will set the commission price yourself, only paying as much as you feel comfortable.

Before you can place the order, keep in mind that you will have to provide the materials for the recipe, not the crafter.

If you can't gather the rare reagents or meet your commission fee, you won't be able to set the request.

In place of a new item, you can also select something to be recrafted, which means that you'll temporarily hand it off to a crafter and have them potentially improve it. When the item is returned to you, it may be of higher quality, which offers more stats.

Once the order is placed, and you've sent your request into the world, you only have to waitfor a crafter to take on the job. Once it's done, you'll find your item in your Mailbox. If the order expires, the materials will be returned to you, and you can place the order again to refresh the duration.

How To Fulfill An Order

If you're an expert in professions and have gathered many recipes, the Crafting Order system can provide a relatively easy way to make gold. Instead of heading to one of the Crafting Order NPCs, you'll want to seek out your profession's crafting station, like the Alchemist's Lab Bench.

Clicking on the corresponding tab at the bottom of the screen will take you to every recipe you have learned. Cycle through them until you find a Crafting Order for an item you know how to make, then accept a job.

You cannot take on Crafting Orders for items that you have not learned the recipe for.

Once you've accepted a job, you must abide by the personalized note and craft the item with the provided materials. Then, after the Artisan's Consortium takes a cut of the profit, you'll be left with a bag of gold.

You can fulfill as many Guild and Personal Orders as you'd like, but unfortunately, you have a limit on how many Public Orders you can take on at once.

These slots will be refreshed every few hours, but how long each time takes isn't certain.
