Where to find and how to farm for pumpkins in Fallout 76 (2024)

This guide was written with player skill level in mind. Some players are not combat ready to take on a Scorchbeast or Super Mutants which is why I have covered all regions on the map.

Pumpkins are used in the following recipes and camp building items:

As with all farming, it is recommended that you run:

Pumpkin vines are a fixed spawn. This means that unless you have harvested them recently, they will always be there.

Keep an eye out for "Verdant Season". This unmarked event is a food buff farmers favourite and makes farming for more difficult ingredients a lot easier.

Verdant season adds a 33% chance for a double yield from any plant within the region that Verdant Season is active in. In layman terms, while this event is active, you have a 33% chance of getting an extra 2 ingredients from every plant that you harvest. This also stacks with the Green Thumb perk card under Perception.

The game doesn't always tell you when it is verdant season. Sometimes you will see a notification on the top left hand side of your screen saying It's a verdant season in (region name here)! Enjoy the abundance! or The verdant season has been extended in the (region name here) or The verdant season in (region name here) has ended. Other times you will just see that you are collecting four ingredients from a plant instead of two.

It is advised that you refresh your pick up history list before going on a pumpkin run.

The easiest way to refresh your pick up history list is to pay a visit to the book house in Summersville. Pick up every single burnt book and text book on all three floors, plus the piles of books on the back table.

You only need to pick up 250 books/items to refresh your pick up history list. There should be a total of 289 books in the book house, but if you pick up everything not bolted down, on all three floors, then you don't need to worry too much if you miss a few burnt books.

There are other ways and places to collect 250 items but the book house is the easiest way because you don't need to keep track of how many items you have picked up.

Pumpkin Pie spawn locations

For the more casual players, why make pumpkin pie when you can just eat the pre-made ones.

There are 19 external spawn locations for pumpkin pie with an additional 8 internal spawn locations.

External - No load screen to enter

Internal - Load screen needed to enter

Pumpkin Pies rely on player cell activation to spawn. This means that there is a higher chance for the pies to spawn, if there are a lot of players running through and around the area (cell). Public servers are ideal.

Toxic Dried Lakebed

Inside Lakeside Grill (diner), on the bench with the register and the teddy bears.

Clarksburg Shooting Club

Face South and run up the mountain in front of you. Climb to the very top and under the large metal power pylon is a tent. Inside the tent on a portable burner is the pie.

Take the elevator up and select "Top Floor". Exit the elevator and take the stairs up on your right. At the top, turn left and walk to the end. Enter the room on your right and the pie will be on the coffee table.

Overlook Cabin

Downstairs, in the kitchen. One in the oven and the other is on the bench next to the oven.

Whitesprings Golf Club

From the front door, stay on the top floor and turn left. Enter the dining area and head towards the kitchen. In the kitchen, in the oven.

Middle Mountain Cabins

Pleasant Valley Cabins

From the spawn point, you will see a two story diner on your left. Inside the diner, in the bain marie, on the left hand side of the room.

Pumpkin House

Both pies can be found in the downstairs kitchen. One on the kitchen table, and the other is on the bench, in the corner.

Harpers Ferry

From The Burrows North map marker, follow the road down NE. Enter/jump over the first red shipping container gate on your right. A few steps in is a pile of tyres on your left. Jump over the fence at the tyres.

Turn right and look up. You will see a hole in the wall on the second floor. Jump up and into the hole and the pie is on the bench, in the kitchen.
