Espresso coffee –I make a couple of cups of coffee for these oats, as I love the strong flavour! I use an espresso coffee machine, but you could also a filter, plunger or Moka pot depending on your preference.

Old Fashioned Rolled Oats –these are the best oats for this recipe. Steel-cut oats and quick-cooking oats can be used in some overnight oats recipes, but may have a different ratio of liquid, and will produce a different texture. I recommend using a recipe specific to these oat types.

Milk –I have used almond milk, but you can use any milk of your preference. Soy or oat also work well, as does dairy milk.

Greek yoghurt – because of the high water content in the coffee, adding some yoghurt into the mix gives a delicious creamy texture to the oats. You can use yoghurt of your preference, but keep it plain flavoured to allow the coffee to shine.

Chia seeds –these help to give the oats a nice thick texture and also add some extra fibre. Black or white chia seeds are fine to use in this recipe.

Maple syrup –for a hint of extra sweetness. Adjust this to your liking – if you are used to drinking sweet coffee, you may wish to add a little more when serving.

Serving suggestions:

Working out what toppings to use with your Espresso Coffee Overnight Oats is one of the best parts!

For this recipe, I like to use a topping of Greek yoghurt and a dusting of cocoa powder for a Cappucino effect.

You could also add:

  • Chopped walnuts or almonds – they provide a great crunch against the oats.
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon – a spice that perfectly complements coffee.
  • Mashed or sliced banana.

Enjoy these delicious Espresso Coffee Overnight Oats. I hope you’ll love the ease of preparation and great taste – be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below!

This is such a time saver in the morning and tastes fantastic too! I make these the night before and love knowing that my breakfast is already made for me. I’ve made these with both almond and cashew milk, which taste great. This has now replaced my morning coffee and I love it! Thank you Alex!
